Crystal Shawanda Releases New Album in U.S.
Crystal Shawanda released her U.S. debut album, Dawn of
a New Day (RCA Nashville), on Tuesday (Aug. 19) after a
successful release in her native Canada. Shawanda began
singing regularly at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge in
Nashville when she was 16. Her first single is titled
“You Can Let Go Now.” Other new country releases
include Glen Campbell’s Meet Glen Campbell (Capitol
Records) and George Jones’ Burn Your Playhouse Down:
The Unreleased Duets (Bandit Records), featuring
collaborations with Vince Gill, Dolly Parton and
Tammy Wynette, among others.

Trace Adkins, 38 Special Tape CMT Crossroads
Trace Adkins and the group 38 Special joined forces
Tuesday night (Aug. 19) for the taping of a CMT
Crossroads episode at the Factory in Franklin, Tenn.
Adkins and 38 Special both said they were longtime
admirers of each other’s work but have only recently
gotten to know each other. Songs they performed
included Adkins’ “You’re Gonna Miss This” and “Ladies
Love Country Boys” and 38 Special’s “Hold On Loosely”
and “Caught Up in You.” A bonus was Adkins’ new single
“Muddy Water,” performed with a guest choir. The show
will premiere on CMT on Sept. 24.
