           Unite for Dancing With the Stars

Julianne Hough will take part in the seventh season of
Dancing With the Stars with dance partner Cody Linley,
it was announced Monday (Aug. 25). The first episode
will air on Sept. 22 on ABC. The 18-year-old actor
played Jake Ryan, the boyfriend (and, later, ex-
boyfriend) of Hannah Montana on the popular Disney
Channel series. He is the youngest celebrity ever to
compete on Dancing With the Stars. Hough won the com-
petition in the season finale in seasons four and five.
Other celebrities this year include Lance Bass, chef
Rocco DiSpirito, Olympic beach volleyball player Misty
May-Treanor, Olympic runner Maurice Greene, Toni

                New American Idol Judge
       Has Written for Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill

Pop songwriter Kara DioGuardi, who will serve as a
fourth judge on the upcoming season of American Idol,
already has ties to Nashville. Her writing credits
include Carrie Underwood’s “Sometimes You Leave” (from
Carnival Ride) and Faith Hill’s “Lost” (from The Hits).
DioGuardi’s Web site also indicates that Martina McBride
has cut one of her songs for a forthcoming release. The
eighth season of American Idol will debut in January
with returning judges Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and
Randy Jackson.
